Reiki Music

Use Reiki Music to Create a Sense of Calm

Reiki is part of a holistic approach to healing.  Body, mind, and spirit are involved in Reiki energy healing.  For this reason, Reiki masters often use peaceful music to help create an atmosphere which enhances the healing process.  Likewise, if you are practicing Reiki on yourself, you may want to incorporate music into your healing sessions.

Appropriate forms of music are available for download from a number of different locations online.  If you have never conducted a Reiki session with music, you should adopt an album (CD) with simple, gentle, relaxing melodies, before trying out something more complex. Some sites, like Amazon, allow you to listen to "samples" or clips of music, before you buy.  Always take advantage of the opportunity to preview the music you are considering.  Listen with your mind and your spirit.

Some practitioners believe that only one type of music should be used -- instrumental music that is clearly labeled as Reiki Music.  However, the use of music is a relatively recent addition to the practice of Reiki.  Therefore, many forms of music are appropriate.  Music created for meditation or for general relaxation should be fine.  Just think how the music you are considering might affect your mood, as well as your focus during a healing session.  And, always try to pick a recording that will run the entire length of your session.  If you intend to use the music with other people (clients), you should probably pick a recording that lasts at least an hour.

In a self-healing session, you can start the music and lie down (or sit) in a comfortable position.  Then place your hands over your face with your palms covering your eyes.  Touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth with the tip of your tongue just behind the teeth. Inhale and let the Reiki energy flow into your body.  Let it flow along your arms and out through your face.  Follow the same slow process of focus and release with the other parts of your body.  If you are working with clients who are in need of healing, simply add the use of Reiki music to your regular routine.  Continue to follow the rituals and hand positions you were taught when you learned Reiki.

Do you really need to use music during a Reiki healing session?  Of course not.  But for some people, music adds to the experience of a Reiki healing session.  If you or your clients generally have a positive reaction to relaxing melodies, then try it.  Monitor the experience, and decide for yourself whether Reiki music makes a positive contribution to the healing experience.
