Learn Reiki: Training in Person

Ideally, Reiki training would involve a gifted Reiki master working closely with an apprentice over a significant period of time.  However, this almost never happens.  Instead, most in-person training for Reiki energy healing takes place in workshops or classes involving a Reiki master and a small group of students.

These classes may be conducted on a single weekend or over a period of weeks or months.  Over the course of the classes or workshops, the student will work through three Reiki levels.  In many cases, each level will be addressed on a separate day or in a separate class.  The teacher will carry out Reiki attunements for the student that are appropriate for the level of training addressed.  Students are usually encouraged to practice on themselves or others between classes.

When you look for an in-person class, be sure to do your own research into the class and the teacher.  After all, not all teachers provide a quality learning experience.  The most obvious thing you can do is to talk to other people.  If you know someone who already practices Reiki, ask that person for his or her opinion of the class you would like to take.  If that is not possible, then contact the teacher directly.  Ask lots of questions. Ask for a printed course description.  Look for a course outline that fits your beliefs and values.  For example, do you want a class that sticks with traditional Usui Reiki?  Or, do you want a class that goes beyond it to include such things as chakras, crystals, angels, etc.   Ask questions about the structure of the class.  Find out how much hands-on work will take place.

On the practical side, you will want to know how much it costs.  And, you will want to know whether your training will qualify you to practice Reiki on your own.  Listed below are several Reiki programs.  By visiting the websites linked below you can get a better idea of the structure and price of classes run by well-known Reiki masters.  You can compare this information with the content and prices of programs in your area.  You can also compare this information with the features and costs of online, distance learning .
