Learn Reiki: Advanced Reiki Training 

Advanced Reiki training is an important option in most Reiki training programs. After you have passed through the earlier practitioner levels of Reiki, you may be given the opportunity to continue your education and training to become a Reiki master.  As part of your advanced Reiki training you will become more deeply connected to Reiki energy and gain greater expertise as a healer. 

Advanced Reiki training tends to vary across masters/teachers.  However, it is likely that the techniques, symbols, and hand placements learned earlier will be reviewed.  Further attunements also will  be given.  The instructor may introduce one or more new symbols.  The instructor may also convey rules of thumb on how to approach particular disorders or illnesses.  For example, the instructor may discuss the best combination of symbols to use to focus intent when channeling Reiki for specific problems.

As part of advanced Reiki training, body scanning is often practiced and critiqued.  However, some Reiki masters go further and place emphasis on reading and clearing auras.  Students may be given specific exercises designed to develop their ability to "see" the human aura. Because of the spiritual nature of Reiki, some Reiki masters do more to develop the student's meditative practices.  Advanced meditation procedures may be introduced to help students achieve the quiet mind and awareness of Reiki energy flow necessary for successful healing.

The practice of Western-style Reiki has changed much since it was first introduced.  Modern Reiki masters have added a great many concepts and practices that bear no historical relationship to traditional, Usui Reiki.  Perhaps the best example of this involves the concepts of chakras and chakra clearing.  Many advanced Reiki training classes now teach procedures for chakra clearing as a key part of Reiki healing. 

Some Reiki masters have introduced the use of crystals and aromatherapy as part of their advanced Reiki training.  Advanced students may be shown how to integrate various crystals into a Reiki healing session. And, they may be taught to use various aromas to enhance healing. 

There are Reiki masters who have taken the idea of advanced Reiki training even further.  For them, advanced Reiki training involves entirely new systems of healing. On this website are several examples of new forms of Reiki as well as wholly new systems of energy healing.  Proponents of these systems believe that their procedures and attunements open the person to a larger number of healing energies and thereby produce a more complete healing.
