Egyptian Reiki

It is difficult to say exactly what constitutes "traditional" Reiki.  Today, dozens of variations have sprung up within Western-style Reiki.  People claiming mastery of traditional Reiki have found it useful to bring into their practice many concepts that have no relationship to Usui Reiki.  Still others have gone further and created almost entirely new systems.   One such system was created by Joanna Bristow Watkins.  Watkins, who traveled to Egypt several times, created an approach to Reiki known as Egyptian Reiki or Reyad Sekh Em.

Egyptian Reiki is said to be a healing system of ultra high vibration.  It uses the traditional idea of Rei as the universal life force but combines it with Sekh Em.  Sekh Em embodies energy from the ancient elements of air, earth, fire, and water.  According to proponents of Egyptian Reiki, it brings about a deeper more balanced type of healing.

Healing sessions are very similar to those found in other versions of Reiki.  The practitioner usually does a short consultation with the person seeking healing.  The practitioner then begins the healing session by placing hands lightly on the patient’s body in different positions. However, if the session is to treat bruises or burns, the hands will not touch the body. Because of the extra energy it evokes, Egyptian Reiki is said to be more effective.  Proponents say that it takes just one session before results are noticed.  Proponents also argue that is superior to traditional Reiki when it comes to spiritual problems.

People who have undergone Egyptian Reiki claim they feel sensations such as tingling warmth or heat while others feel cold during a healing session. They also may have a heightened sense of emotions, but the vast majority feel a  sense of calm and relaxation.  After the session, the person who experienced the healing may feel highly refreshed, although some people emerge from the healing feeling exhausted.

Egyptian Reiki has been used for treating chronic aches and pains as well as various mental and physical disorders.  As with other forms of alternative medicine, responsible practitioners do not recommend Egyptian Reiki as a complete substitute for traditional medical services.  Rather, it is recommended as a supplement to be used in conjunction with traditional medical advice and procedures.

Learning Egyptian Reiki involves five levels of training. If you want to become a master of Egyptian Reiki, you must complete all five levels along with a lengthy cleansing process.  However, to become a master of Egyptian Reiki, you do not need prior training in other forms of Reiki energy healing.  You do not have learn traditional Reiki first.
