The Crown Chakra in Reiki HealingThe seventh chakra is the crown chakra. The crown chakra is located at the top of the head and extends outward past the body. A major energy channel is said to connect the root chakra with the crown chakra. It is through this channel that Kundalini rises from the root to merge with the crown chakra and the infinite. Physically, the most advanced part of the brain, the cerebrum, is dependent on the crown chakra. However, the crown chakra is involved in organizing and integrating the entire organism. It is the crown chakra that brings harmony and balance to the functioning of the other chakras. Because the crown chakra influences the entire body, many physical illnesses and disorders are connected to weaknesses in its functioning. Both the body and mind are susceptible to a variety chronic disorders when there are energy blockages at level of the crown chakra. A spiritual emptiness and indefinable feelings of discontent are also associated with weakness in the crown chakra. During a traditional Reiki healing session, healing starts at the top of the head. Hence, the crown chakra may be the first chakra to be cleared. With its connections beyond the physical body, it is important to open the crown chakra to the flow of universal life energy. Strengthening of the crown chakra helps harmonize the body to ward off illness and accelerate natural processes of healing. Channeling Reiki energy at the level of the crown chakra helps the person feel more spiritual and produces a flow of energy that can have positive influences throughout the body. Some Reiki master
use mantras and chanting as part of their healing practices. Such
Reiki masters will likely use the
mantra of "Om" in order to awaken the crown chakra.
Other Reiki masters will use gemstones to help with opening the crown
chakra. Amethyst, diamonds, and rock crystal are among most popular types of
gemstones that are used when awakening this chakra. Others will choose to
use certain aromas in relation to the crown chakra. Rosewood is
thought to be especially helpful.
